I'm in Barcelona!

From London, Tim and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Barcelona for 4 days! I couldn't have been more excited since it is on the coast of Spain! I sure am brushing up on my Spanish days back in high school. There is hardly anyone that speaks English here, but we are managing these few days just fine! Since I can't get internet on my phone here (it will rack up the phone bill), I sadly cannot post photos on my Twitter while I am in Europe.

Today, we spent the day relaxing on the beach that is a 15 minute walk from our hotel! Relaxing on the beach is one of my favorite things about summer! I am definitely a warm weather girl. I am convinced we must look like locals because people have come up to us speaking Spanish and asking for directions, hah! Again, since I cannot post pictures I decided to add what I brought with me for the day!

Barcelona Beach Day
Barcelona Beach Day by karamalo featuring essie nail polish

  • I could not find my exact dress from Billabong on Polyvore, but mine is very similar to this one. I only use mine as a cover up because it is a bit too short for me to wear as a dress. I am in love with this print/style!
  • I sadly do not own true Ray Ban sunglasses, but the off brand is just fine with me! These go with everything I swear.
  • My go to makeup product would have to be mascara. I was blessed with long, dark eyelashes but mascara gives them that extra something! If I'm going to the beach or pool, I always put on my clear mascara and curl my eyelashes so I don't have to worry about black mascara running just in case I decide to get in the water.
  • I picked up the latest Glamour magazine at the Heathrow airport in London before my flight. I'm not sure if it's the same edition currently in the US, but it came with a free facial toner that I am excited to use!
  • Currently I have Essie Mint Candy Apple on my fingernails. I know I am late on the mint polish bandwagon, but I think it's the perfect color for summer and I just got the mint J. Crew chinos which I am in love with! On my toes, I always have a coral polish. I am forgetting the exact color because I left my nail polish back in the states (oops)!
  • A camera is essential on any big excursion! I know my camera is not a professional one, but I can't help but love my Nixon Coolpix! I love how compact it is and how it gets the job done. The self timer came in handy today as well, because Tim and I did not know how to say "can you take our picture?" in Spanish.
  • I remember when I was rushing as a freshman, and a girl asked me, "if you could be any type of shoe which one would it be?". I answered with the gladiator type sandal because they are stylish and comfortable! These sandals were $12 at Target, what a steal!
  • You can't go wrong with lip balm! I used to religiously buy/wear Burt's Bees (even though Tim hates the smell of it, haha). I decided to try the Eos lip balms and I am not even close to being done with mine! I (and Tim) approve of the smell also!
Tomorrow, we are going on a Fat Tire bike tour around the city! I know it's going to be exciting because Tim and I went on a bike tour hosted by the same company in London. If any of you ever go to Barcelona, Berlin, London, or Paris I highly recommend them! Their tour guides are on the younger side with a great sense of humor and give advice on what else to check out in your city that's worth your time and money. You can find their link, here

Have any of you traveled to Europe?

My Very First Blog Post!

Hello bloggers! I am clearly very new to the blogging world and I need all the help I can get! I have been wanting to start a blog for a while now; I love looking at all of your adorable blogs and am excited to start my own. Even though I have a fake mustache on my face, I still think this is one of the best pictures of myself!

Here's a more serious one from college graduation with my roommate! As you can see the gown is so big on me (blame my dad for thinking I'm 5'10" haha). I still can't believe I graduated a little over two weeks ago! Those four years really fly by

I decided to start my blog with 10 facts about myself so here we go!

1) Although I just graduated with a Bachelors in Nutrition Science, I want to go into teaching. I got into a transition to teaching program where I can decide to go into elementary or secondary science education and I am still deciding! (If any of you have pros & cons about both, please let me know)

2) I have a passion for running and I used to run cross country in high school; now I just enjoy running for fun! Also at my school (which I will disclose later) we have a running relay event called the Little 50 which I ran for two out of the four years for my sorority- I loved it even though it was one of the most physically demanding races I've ever done!

3) I have always loved reading and one of my favorite things is curling up in a comfy chair with a good book! I was the girl in english classes who secretly enjoyed the books we were reading aka The Great Gatsby, Great Expectations, and The Scarlett Letter. Of course I prefer current novels and "easy read" books.

4) I own very little jewelry - some people are shocked to know that I am not a super girly girl. But don't get me wrong I am definitely not a tomboy either! However, I have been wanting to add rings and bracelets to my very small collection.

5) I don't really think my nails look best with polish on; shocking again, I know! Maybe it's because I like to keep my nails relatively short...they feel dirty if I have them too long and I think nail polish looks weird on my short nails. I only own two colors (Essie - Mint Candy Apple and a beautiful coral color by Sonia Kashuk). I am in love with mint candy apple although I know I am late on that bandwagon!

6) I enjoy traveling! My favorite place to be is the beach! I love everything about it. In fact I am typing my first blog post in LONDON! I am here on my first visit to Europe and visiting my boyfriend while he finishes up his internship so we can do some more traveling! Which leads me to my next fact...

7) I have been dating my boyfriend, Tim, for a little over two years and I couldn't be any happier! We love watching tv shows together, cooking together (and of course eating together haha), and even playing video games (yes, he got me hooked on some!). I am truly grateful I found someone so great to share life with :) Pictures will come later!

8) I have a slight obsession over houses. I love looking at model homes, new houses, and everything interior decorating/organization. I would love to be a realtor or work for a residential housing organization someday!

9) I love Italian food, and all Italian food except pesto. Because of my peanut allergy, I avoid all nuts so that means no pesto for me! But seriously I could live off of pasta, alfredo, breadsticks, lasagna, pizza, etc.

10) I do not enjoy drama! I am very easygoing and am grateful that my friends are the same way. My senior award from my sorority was "Most Laid Back" and while I am laid back, do not confuse that with "does not care". I would rather help people than myself!
