Things I'm Loving! (Part 1)

Because of my full time job, I've been getting into (somewhat) of a normal 9 to 5 schedule on weekdays.  (Actually my work week consists of only Monday through Thursday until the summer...which I am loving).  Because I am finally able to live out a normal work day and week (unlike the schedule of classes, exams, etc), I have developed a liking towards some new discoveries I've made so far in 2013!

Without further ado, let's get started!

1. TV Shows

Tim and I have been watching a lot of different shows on Netflix lately that are amazingly good! We are obsessed with the show, Monk.  I remembered Monk was on USA Network when I was younger, but I never got into it...I even had no clue on what the show was about! It's a lot like Psych, but I have to say, I like Monk much better! I love how each episode is something different, yet there is still a central plot that the show revolves around!

Another show: Freaky Eaters

This show is on TLC, but I have yet to see it on the actual channel! (I've only seen it on Netflix) The show is focusing on the obesity epidemic, which is something I have always been interested in. {I also love the Biggest Loser haha} The people the show focuses on only eat one food every single day...and yes, they eat the SAME thing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! There are two episodes of people who only eat french fries! Over all, it is such an interesting show!

On to show #3: Total Blackout

Even though this show is on the SyFy channel, it's one of the most hilarious game shows ever! The host is Urkel (just one reason why it's so funny)! The contestants have to do different types of challenges in complete darkness.  Check out this video to see why I love this show so much! Hilarious.

2. Vitamins

I don't think I have ever mentioned this before, but my skin is not the greatest.  I have struggled with mild acne for quite some time. Nothing bad, usually just one breakout constantly (which is still super annoying!!) Does anyone else feel my pain?? I am always looking for the latest skincare and makeup products that will not be too harsh on my sensitive and breakout-prone skin! Talk about a struggle. I recently decided to take Vitamin E, and I think it is working so far! My skin seems to be more hydrated this winter, and I have noticed some dark spots fading quicker than usual!

And let's not forget about Vitamin C this flu season!! I do not want to get the flu!!

3. Amazon Purchases (including my very first knitting supplies)!

Recently I traded in some old textbooks to Amazon's Trade In program, and while they do not accept every book out there, I was able to get good deals on about half of my old books! And that half added up to about $160! I can't believe I would've just had those lying around my house, not being used! Other than some necessities (guinea pig food, Crest white strips, and a gift for Tim), I decided to buy some things for myself!

These boots will be at my doorstep soon enough! I have been looking for a pair of combat boots that aren't so...well...combat ish.  I know that seems hard to find, but I think I've found the perfect pair, with the perfect color! I wanted to find a pair that looks more vintage (Something like the girls on A Little Princess would wear...judge me, that's still my favorite movie)

I think they will look cute with jeans and a cute shirt, maybe even cute enough for going out in (I am such a wimp when it comes to going out footwear in the winter...I wear boots most of the time - if I'm feeling brave I'll wear flats)

I also want to get hooked on knitting! At camp I learned patterns for tons of embroidery thread bracelets, and I loved how I could always work on a bracelet and pay attention to something at the same time. I think it's nice to keep my hands busy sometimes.  My grandma taught me how to knit in 7th grade, but I lost all of the supplies so I have been dying to pick it back up! My first project is going to be a basic scarf.  I think they will come in handy when I move to Chicago this fall!

Part 2 (Thing I'm Not Loving) is coming soon!

Since Thanksgiving

I have been up to a ton of various things since Thanksgiving! Needless to say, my to-do list is always growing.  During the month of December, I worked very hard finishing up my semester with finals, as well as applying to graduate school for next fall...scary!!

Literally when I got home the day winter break started, I opened my mail from the previous weekend when I was in my college town. And, I got in! I couldn't believe it.  It was 3 am when I opened my acceptance letter, and I had to rub my eyes about 40 times to make sure it was for real!  I am so happy that starting next year, I will be well on my way to becoming a teacher!  Also, Tim and I will finally be in the same city permanently and we couldn't be more excited!

First things first...Tim and I got a pet: a guinea pig! We named her Rumple, and she is so adorable! Tim has been wanting one recently, and since I had two when I was little, we thought it would be the perfect pet.

We even bough a holiday leash for her! (It's too bad she doesn't like to walk in it)

I also made quinoa for the first time ever! The taste took a little getting used to, but now I love it! I found a recipe for cheesy quinoa, and I'm in love!

Because the classes I would have taken this spring semester would not transfer to my new program starting this fall, I decided to drop my classes and get a job to save money before grad school! I decided on being a full-time nanny. That way I would not get money taken out of taxes, and I would still get paid a decent amount! I found a wonderful family only five minutes away, and I adore spending time with their two kids! I am really looking forward to spending the summer with them since we will be able to go outside to parks and the pool :)

I get to see this pup four or five times a week now! Her name is Murphy and I think she's one of those dogs that's ugly-cute, haha

One of the perks of this job is my lunch is free! I am free to eat whatever in their house, and I decided to make lettuce wraps today because I have been craving lettuce in any form (salad, wrap...weird I know)

I also celebrated my 23rd birthday! It has definitely been my best birthday yet, because most of my closest friends were able to celebrate with me! I swear for the last 8 years, I have been bombarded by exams (in high school), or sorority recruitment.  This is the first birthday in a loooong time that I have been able to do what I want to do and relax!
